Another Victory for the Second Amendment by Sarah Palin

The Supreme Court handed down an important ruling today stating what should be obvious: that the Second Amendment, in the words of Justice Alito writing for the court, “applies equally to the federal government and the states.” Today’s decision in McDonald vs. City of Chicago, in conjunction with the landmark Heller case two years ago, should leave little doubt that our individual right to keep and bear arms applies everywhere and is a right for everyone.

For an interesting perspective on the significance of today’s ruling, take a look at David Rittgers’ article in National Review.

Is Obama presidency over?

The liberals are asking us to give Obama time. We agree . . . and think 25 to life would be appropriate.

America needs Obama-care like Nancy Pelosi needs a Halloween mask.

Q: Have you heard about McDonald's' new Obama Value Meal?
A: Order anything you like and the guy behind you has to pay for it.

Local issues are our issues - Bergenfield: Checks, balances needed in Bergenfield

I went to the work session of the Bergenfield Mayor and Council on June 1.

Only three council members were present and the mayor. Councilmen Tully and Carlson were not present; Councilman Aguasvivas arrived very late and made no comments, except his brief report for the mayor.

After watching the meeting for a half-hour, it was clear that it is an Old Boys' Club meeting, not a business one where Bergenfield matters are decided.

In general, the council went quickly through the agenda, spending taxpayers' money right and left.

Gulf of Mexico oil spill - "We are on top of it" President Obama

Jay Leno: "Well, you know something, as if these poor people in the Gulf weren't angry enough, you see what" BP CEO Tony Hayward "did over the weekend? He flew back to England to race one...of his yachts in the pristine, crystal clear waters off the coast of England. His yacht is named BOB, B-O-B, which stands for 'British Oil Bastard,' I believe."

Jay Leno: "President Obama, oh, when he heard this, oh, he was furious. President Obama got so mad, he almost couldn't finish his round of golf. That's how bad it was."

Local issues are our issues - Bergenfield: Wasting money in Bergenfield – a letter to The Record (June 20, 2010)

Regarding "A quiet colorless July 4 is likely" (Page L-1, June 14):
It irritates me that Bergenfield held a Family Day on June 13 and conducted a 10- to 15-minute firework display in the evening. Not only was this not July 4th, but this is a borough that has had more than its fair share of fiscal issues; it shouldn’t be wasting funds on anything.

What was the funding source for these fireworks?

Bergenfield used the reverse 911 system to advise citizens about the Family Day festivities. I don’t believe that this is what this system was intended for.

Mayor of Hoboken Dawn Zimmer Voices Support of Cap 2.5 and she is a Democrat.

MAYOR DAWN ZIMMER: Property taxes are too high, they’re just too high. Unfortunately, they’re driving people out of Hoboken and they’re making it extremely difficult for seniors who are on a fixed income to remain in Hoboken and we want to make sure that people can stay in Hoboken so it’s extremely important, not only for the residents but also for the business community that we reduce the taxes.
