Bergen County Republican Candidate for Freeholder 2010 - John Criscione

Dear Fellow Republicans,

What a great time to be a Republican! Under the leadership of Governor Christie and our dedicated newly elected Freeholders, we are off to a good start for the New Year. But much needs to be done. The rise of Republicanism in New Jersey and Bergen County will bring attacks from those who will try to hang on to power at any cost. What is needed in a Freeholder Candidate is courage, character, and vision. I humbly submit my name for your consideration. My experience and record in local government speak to my qualifications for this great task.

WHO AM I? Past affiliations include Fort Lee Unico President and Fort Lee Lions Club member. Politics and government are my passion. I was elected Fort Lee Republican Club President in 1993. In 1994 I won the nomination for Borough Council in a convention and went on to win the November Electon unseating a popular incumbent Democratic Councilman. Because of my broad appeal to the electorate, I was one of the few Republicans to be elected in a heavily Democratic town. At the end of that term, I was appointed by the Mayor to the Fort Lee Planning Board, where I served almost 5 years, until the Democratic Council appointed me to the Zoning Board of Adjustment where I served as secretary until 2005. Since then I have been a Republican Committeeman and served last year as Club President.

ENOUGH ABOUT ME, what can someone from Fort Lee do for YOU and your family. Living in Fort Lee allows me to understand both urban and suburban issues. No matter where you live in Bergen, the common thread that exists between us is our desire to have safe neighborhoods, good schools, senior services, reasonable taxes and responsible accountable leadership. Bergen residents deserve no less of our elected officials.

MY MISSION is threefold: 1) To cut waste and fraud in County government
2) To maintain and bolster YOUR PROPERTY VALUES thus preserving the residential and commercial tax base. I believe that high taxes adversely affect property values. 3) To REPRESENT the PEOPLE'S INTERESTS not the "SPECIAL INTERESTS."
I believe that is the essence of the revitalized Republican Party. I will work harmoniously with the full Freeholder Board and the County Executive to bring responsible government back to Bergen County.

Sincerely,
John Criscione
