Is suboxone treatment a crutch that addicts lean on? Should they lean on this crutch or do it alone without the help of medication? Some people think that they should do it alone with out medication while others including physicians feel that using suboxone medication to help with the treatment process improves the chances of success.

It is true that on one hand,it is up to the addict to WANT to be clean and free of their addiction. But making it to that point may take time especially if they have been brought in to treatment by ‘tough love’ or a court order. Also, making it through the initial withdrawal process can be scary. If a medication helps get a person through that part, any addict would accept that help.

Overall, I believe that anything that an addict can use to help themselves get off their addiction is something that should be use. Even if it was something as simple as a spoon full of sugar.
